We strive to ensure that all requests received are responded to within the statutory timescale of 20 working days. However, there are occasions when this will not be possible, and it will take longer than the 20 working days to respond.
There are periods when both the volume of requests received and their complexity will pose challenges when seeking to respond within the required timescale. For example, if requests are for correspondence from multiple sources over a period of time.
During 2020, both the complexity and number of concurrent requests posed such challenges. Around August in particular, there was an increase in the number of complex requests relating to results and appeals requiring information from multiple sources.
