Information requested
Thank you very much for the data you sent me earlier in the year. It generated some interesting findings. For example, a greater proportion of the most deprived students are passing Higher Applications of Maths than are passing Higher Mathematics.
For students in SIMD deciles 1 and 2 (Highest level of deprivation), the proportion of passes for Higher Applications is statistically significantly higher than the proportion of passes for Higher Mathematics. At a 95% confidence level, I found a difference in means of between 7% and 18%. It could be that by offering Higher Application as well as Higher Mathematics schools can improve both attainment and narrow the deprivation gap - the two headliners from this year's exam results.
I would like to investigate this further, so would like to have the same, including this years results, but not filtered by sex. I didn't find any gender related points I wish to explore further and not breaking it down in this way will reduce the redactions.
