We provide a guide for managers in supporting a stress risk assessment, which is fully supported by a HR Practitioner. This guidance is attached.
3 ) What training do you provide for managers to carry out the above?
We run a Managers Fundamental Training programme for all new and existing line managers which covers all aspect of line management, including staff wellbeing and support, including processes and policies.
We also have an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) service and the use of ABLE Futures. ABLE Futures delivers the Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions. This is a free, confidential service available to all staff, which provides a mental health professional for staff to talk to about whatever is on their mind.
- What role does your competent person have in the organisation and what are their duties in relation to your mental health/ stress risk assessments?
All our HR team are trained to support staff and line managers through the stress risk assessment process.
We have a Wellbeing Steering Group which oversees all initiatives and projects in relation to staff wellbeing including running mental health initiatives.
Eleven members of staff are qualified as Mental Health First Aiders and staff are encouraged to speak to them if needed.

We carried out a survey in May 2024 regarding our wellbeing strategy to inform our application for accreditation with Investors in People.
