Information requested
The number of SQA candidate malpractice investigations and the number of SQA centre malpractice investigations carried out during: 2018/19; 2019/20; 2020/21; 2021/22; 2022/23. Please specify how many were: (a) instances were malpractice was found to have taken place (b) in cases were (a) was established, please detail actions taken by SQA as a result. Please detail names of local authority and /or SQA centres involved.
Response
On our website we have information on reporting malpractice concerns, and we produce annual reports on both centre and candidate malpractice. These are available using the following link:

However, we do not produce the information broken down by local authority or centre. It can be seen in the published reports that the overall numbers are relatively small and where the numbers are below 5 the information is not disclosed in the reports to avoid possible identification of individuals. We have a duty to ensure that in situations like this that individuals cannot be identified. We therefore redact the information under section 38(1)(b) of the Act.
