Our published statistics quantifies the number of appeals submitted for review. The following link provides the information on appeals. Appeals Statistics 2022 - SQA
Each appeal included centre alternative assessment evidence for question paper components, as well as a consideration of any relevant SQA coursework.

All centre assessments for each appeal were reviewed as part of the process.
3. The number of these scrutinised that were awarded a higher grade

4. Is teaching authorities opinion of assessed grade accepted as proof of higher performance
The appeals process for 2022 involved an independent review of evidence. The assessment evidence for each appeal was reviewed for grade worthiness by SQA senior appointees (subject experts) without knowledge of the centre's estimated grade or the learner's original result.
