FOI reference: 22/23 072
Date received: 07/09/2022
Date responded: 21/09/2022
Information requested
I would like to get information on the experience level of the markers for National 5 and Higher Art and Design in both Design and Expressive practical exams. For instance o Percentages of teaching experience by years in post , how many markers were marking this year for the first time and how many were sent home from marking due to inconsistant assessment. Also how many were told they would not be re-employed next year due to inconsistant or unnacceptable performance
Response
SQA's response
Experience level of markers
We do not hold details of teaching experience for our markers. Markers are asked to confirm that they are currently teaching the subject/level at each annual appointment cycle and that they meet the criteria for the role.
Markers marking this year for the first time
The undernoted stats show the total number of markers contracted to each team during 2022 examinations and the number of markers who were new to each of these teams this year. While these markers marked for the first time this year in these teams, they may have previously marked other subjects/levels or marked other subjects/levels this year.
