Annual Statistical Report

The Annual Statistical Report 2021 provides details of entries and attainment for SQA qualifications in the 2020/21 academic year.

In reviewing our publications as part of the Code of Practice for Statistics, this will be the last year that the ASR will be produced in its current form.

The contents of the ASR will be reviewed with the aim to provide information to users in a more timely manner.

Due to the cancellation of the 2021 exams, the 'Progression Tables 2021' publication cannot be produced.

The Statistical Summary has been updated due to typographical errors relating to Advanced Higher and Scottish Baccalaureate figures.  The corresponding tables contained within the Statistical Summary remain correct.

Results Services Report 2021

Due to the cancellation of the 2021 exams the 'Results Services Report 2021' publication cannot be produced. An alternate publication titled 'Appeals Report Tables 2021' can be found in our Information section.

Attainment Statistics (August) 2021

As a result of the cancellation of 2021 exams for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher, the Deputy First Minister commissioned the development of an alternative certification model (ACM) for 2021.

Accordingly, the 2021 results for those levels are based on the 2021 ACM.

A breakdown of the national qualifications results by sex

Historically, 'Attainment Statistics (August) Schools' and 'Attainment Statistics (August) Colleges' were published on an annual basis in September. From 2021 the 'Attainment Statistics (August) Schools' publication, is replaced by two alternative publications, 'Attainment Statistics (August) Education Authority Schools' and 'Attainment Statistics (August) Independent Schools'. 'Attainment Statistics (August) Other Centres' is published from 2021 for the first time. 'Attainment Statistics (August) Colleges' continues to be published this year, as in historical years.

Education Authority tables will now be published based on both August and December data, at the relevant point in the year.

The Attainment Statistics (August) 2021 Statistical Summary Centre Type - Provisional publication has been updated due to errors identified during quality assurance.

The Attainment Statistics (August) 2021 Education Authority National Qualifications - Provisional publication has been further updated due to the addition of missing statistical disclosure control.

Attainment Statistics (August) - Historical

Historic versions of the 'Attainment Statistics (August) 2021 Education Authority Schools', 'Attainment Statistics (August) 2021 Independent Schools' and 'Attainment Statistics (August) 2021 Other Centres' tables for diets 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 were published for the first time on this page on the 21st of September 2021 and subsequently moved to the appropriate archive webpage for the relevant year on 15th October 2021.

Education Authority (August) tables for 2018 (comprising 2016/17 and 2017/18) were previously published in April 2019 and can be found in the 2018 archived webpage.

Education Authority (August) 2019 tables were published for the first time on this page on the 21st of September 2021 and subsequently moved to the appropriate archive webpage for the relevant year on 8th November 2021.
