SVQ Measurement Processes (Maintenance) - GR8R 23
The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Measurement Processes (Maintenance) allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work and expertise.
The SVQ covers areas such as performing pre-measurement processes operations, contributing to the health and safety of the work environment and performing post-measurement processes operations. Candidates will be able to complete optional units such as inspecting and verifying gas measurement systems and inspecting and verifying bulk storage measurement systems. This SVQ is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) set and published by OPITO - the sector skills council for the sector. It is available through employers and training providers.
This group award replaces the SVQ Measurement Processes (Maintenance) - G79X 23, which is now in its lapsing period.

Why deliver this qualification
Learners will gain an internationally-recognised qualification that guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully. Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.
Assessment is carried out in the workplace. This minimises any time learners need to be away from their work.
The SVQ can be offered in any of the following modes:
- full-time
- part-time (for example, day-release)
Who does this qualification suit
The SVQ Measurement Processes (Maintenance) is aimed at people who may be working as technicians and who are involved in the maintenance of liquid and/or gas flow in the oil and gas industry.
Access
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. Candidates should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow them to gather the required evidence.
Progression
Successful completion of the SVQ Measurement Processes (Maintenance) could allow progression to higher level qualifications and open up more employment opportunities and career prospects in the sector.
Approval
Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.
Centres without devolved authority require to come forward for approval and should contact SQA's Business Development Team for guidance.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide (490 KB).
