Level 2 Certificates in Maritime Studies

The Level 2 Certificate in Maritime Studies has two Qualifications within it:

1. Certificate in Maritime Studies Able Seafarer (Deck)
2. Certificate in Maritime Studies Engine Room Rating

Depending on which qualification is completed the following areas are covered:

• Maritime Sector Overview;
• Vessel Ropework, Anchoring and Mooring Operations;
• Maritime Employment, Environmental and Health and Safety Practice;
• Survival in the Water During Maritime Emergencies;
• Vessel Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting and Maritime Security;
• Safe Operation of Merchant Vessel Machinery Systems;
• Electrical Safety on Merchant Vessels;
• Producing Components Using Hand Fitting Techniques.
