PDA Workplace Coaching SCQF level 7
Professional Development Awards (PDAs) extend or broaden professional or vocational skills and are linked to National Occupational Standards. The PDA Workplace Coaching at SCQF level 7 offers candidates the opportunity to develop the practical skills and knowledge they need in order to coach in the workplace.
This PDA covers areas such as reflecting on, developing and maintaining own skills and practice in learning and development; enabling individual learning through workplace coaching and evaluating; and improving learning and development sessions.
This qualification is available through colleges, training providers and employers.

Why deliver this qualification
The PDA Workplace Coaching at SCQF level 7 was developed in partnership with employers and the sector.
It will help employers meet skills gaps and provide continuing professional development for staff, while candidates will gain knowledge and skills needed for progression in the workplace.
Who does this qualification suit
The target audience is those in work whose main role is workplace coaching with some responsibility for evaluation of own practice. Typical job roles that would suit this PDA include the following roles in the workplace: coach, supervisor, team leader, facilitator, mentor or assessor.
Access
Entry is at the discretion of the centre.
Some current experience of coaching/training others in the workplace would be advantageous.
Progression
The Units in the PDA have been mapped against the National Occupational Standards for Learning and Development.
Learners would have the opportunity of progressing to an SVQ in Learning and Development at SCQF levels 8 and/or 9.
Approval
Centres will have to come forward for approval and should contact SQA's Business Development Team for guidance.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Guide to Approval.
How to assess
Each individual Unit specification gives detailed information on the Evidence Requirements and approaches to assessment for each Unit.
It is envisaged that evidence for Unit L&D10 Reflect on, Develop and Maintain Own Skills and Practice in Learning and Development will relate to, or be generated by the Units: Enable Individual Learning through Workplace Coaching and Evaluate and Improve Learning and Development Sessions.
