HNC/HND Professional Dance Performance
Higher National qualifications provide practical skills and theoretical knowledge that meet the needs of employers. The HNC in Professional Dance Performance (SCQF level 7) develops knowledge and skills in areas such as choreography, audition preparation, company working and the contextualisation of dance. It focuses primarily on practical learning and development in a variety of dance disciplines.
It also develops learners' communication, self-evaluation, interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills, as well as professional attitudes which enhance employment prospects.
The HND in Professional Dance Performance (SCQF level 8) builds on the knowledge and skills of the HNC and it is also designed to develop and advance dance performance thorough working knowledge of the processes involved in preparing for audition.
This qualification is available through colleges and training providers. Typically, an HNC takes one year to complete and an HND takes two years.
