Transport
SQA offers a range of qualifications across the SCQF and RQF/CQFW to support transport services. They cover areas from bus, coach and rail services to Driving Goods and Safe Road Users.
Freight logistics is a major industry sector in Scotland, employing around 5% of the Scottish workforce. Young people are unaware of the careers opportunities which the sector holds. The age profile of the logistics workforce is skewed towards older age groups and employers face difficulties in attracting younger people into the workforce.
As the agent for the Department for Transport (DfT) SQA also offer specific qualifications required for this sector such as the Dangerous Goods Driver Training (DGDT) also commonly referred to as ADR and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSA).
SQA has been appointed scheme manager by the UK Downstream Oil Distribution Forum (DODF) for the Petroleum Driver Passport (PDP) .
