Personal Achievement Award SCQF level 1 and 2

Our Personal Achievement Awards are designed to enable learners to develop their confidence, independence, and their ability to communicate and respond to others in their own way.

Learners will also have the opportunity to participate in a range of new and familiar activities, and to experience and contribute to their community across a range of social contexts.

The Awards are available at SCQF level 1 and SCQF level 2 and have three different stages of achievement: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Learners can progress through the Bronze, Silver and Gold stages, building on their achievements at each stage.

Changes to Outcome 3 in Personal Achievement Award Units (SCQF level 1)

Following feedback from centres, we have made changes to Outcome 3 in each of the Units at SCQF level 1. While each Unit covers a different context, the Outcomes and Assessment Standards are the same across all Units.

Outcome 3 currently requires candidates to reflect on the activities they have taken part in, and several centres indicated that this Outcome is proving too challenging for many of their candidates at this level. Following a review, and wider consultation with centres, it has been agreed that Outcome 3 should be replaced with the following:

The Unit Specifications and Award Support Notes have been updated  for use from August 2015 onwards. Unit Specifications are available from the SCQF level 1 tab below. The Award Support Notes are available from our secure website, and teachers and lecturers can arrange access to them through their SQA Co-ordinator. Revised Unit assessment support packs will be published on our secure website by August 2015.

We strongly advise all centres currently delivering the Personal Achievement Awards at SCQF level 1 to ensure that they use the most up to date versions of these documents with their candidates from session 2015/2016 onwards..
