SQA has published its final Responsible Business Annual Review, celebrating the many ways its colleagues have delivered for SQA’s communities during the organisation’s final year. The review showcases a multitude of impactful initiatives that will be carried forward into Qualifications Scotland.
Highlights in 2024 included:
- SQA colleagues raised over £21,000 for its corporate charity, You Are My Sunshine (YAMS).
- A new partnership was announced with the Marie Trust, initially raising over £2,220.
- Colleagues dedicated almost 800 hours to volunteering in the community.
- SQA published its Corporate Parenting Plan 2023–26 which was shaped through collaboration with Who Cares? Scotland.
The Responsible Business Annual Review outlines SQA’s commitment to supporting, serving, and nurturing its employees, stakeholders, customers, and communities. It also acknowledges SQA’s environmental impact and contributions towards a greener society. The organisation’s responsible business efforts are categorised into three key areas: Our People; Our Customers and Communities; and Our Environment.
SQA’s responsible business vision is to be a trusted, inclusive, and inspiring organisation where people feel valued and where equality is at the heart of everything it does. As a member of Business in the Community Scotland (BITC), SQA aligns its strategies with the creation of healthy communities and a sustainable environment.
Louisa Macdonell, BITC Scotland Director, commented; ‘SQA are a time-honoured member of Business in the Community and consistently demonstrate commitment to furthering the Responsible Business agenda. They prioritise meaningful and impactful development of their employees through volunteering programmes. Most notably they have joined our newly established Social Mobility Working Group, which aims to address social mobility through business collaboration in Scotland. We are excited to keep working with SQA as an ally to the Responsible Business movement.’
John Booth, Interim Chief Executive at SQA, said; ‘As SQA prepares to be replaced by Qualifications Scotland, we remain dedicated to being a connected and caring organisation, ensuring a positive impact on our people, customers, communities, and the environment. The initiatives undertaken in 2024 provide a strong foundation for the new organisation to build upon.’
