The PDA in Low Energy Construction Technology at SCQF level 8 covers the following areas: analysis and evaluation of strategies for the Passivhaus design of new buildings, evaluation and selection of appropriate Passivhaus design methods, and analysis and evaluation of suitable strategies for retrofit of buildings.
This qualification is available through colleges. While studying under the award, learners can apply to become student members of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).

Why deliver this qualification
The PDA in Low Energy Construction Technology at SCQF level 8 has been developed in partnership with employers and industry so it is suitable for the current sector.

There are no specific articulation and/or progression opportunities for this qualification.
Approval
Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.
Centres without devolved authority must come forward for approval and should contact SQA’s Business Development Team for guidance.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide.
How to assess
Each unit specification includes guidance on delivery and assessment and, where appropriate, any relationship with delivery and assessment of other units. Assessment guidance includes a variety of conditions including open/closed-book, with an emphasis on project-based assessment and a holistic approach.
