SQA partners with City of Glasgow College and the University of Strathclyde for Engineering pilot

NextGen: HN Engineering learners will benefit from a three-way partnership between SQA, City of Glasgow College and the University of Strathclyde in 2024-25.

The partnership pilot delivery model will see learners who complete their NextGen HNC at City of Glasgow College have the opportunity to progress to a range of possible degree routes at the University of Strathclyde, through the Engineering Academy programme.

The Engineering Academy is a collaboration between the University of Strathclyde, partner colleges and industry which delivers a pathway to a range of engineering degrees in the University's leading Faculty of Engineering.

SQA’s Engineering subject team and NextGen: HN team have been working closely with colleagues from City of Glasgow College and the University of Strathclyde to ensure that there is agreement about how the pilot will work for Engineering Academy learners, especially around issues such as grading.

It has been heartening to see the development of a common understanding between the partners involved, and the positive acknowledgement that, to ensure the best outcome, change was required by everyone.

We'll be working closely with all parties over the pilot delivery in 2024-25 and sharing experiences along the way.
